OUR BOARD

Some of the more recent additions to the Trustees board: Julia Regis with (from left) Martin Swain, Terry Angus and Duncan Jones.

Founding chair Julia Regis provides highly-motivated and energetic leadership to the Trust’s development and achievements since it began life in 2018. But she cannot do it all alone and Julia has assembled a board of Trustees who provide a broad array of experience and skill-sets to help the Trust go forward.

There are figures from the Regis family, led by Cyrille’s fellow ex-professional footballer Dave Regis, media, football administration and the business world. The Board represents a significant step forward from the earliest days of the Trust’s beginnings when Julia led the huge task of establishing its organisation and development. The Trustees meet regularly to address the progress of projects and future strategies.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Julia Regis

Julia Regis

Founder & Chair

Julia has been the Trust’s chief inspiration, chairperson and driving force since its inception in 2018. It fell upon Cyrille’s widow to decide a fitting salute to her husband as she came to terms with the shock of his death at home in January 2018 and she recalled a conversation over an anniversary dinner with him just few months before.

“Cyrille spoke of his approaching retirement and what he might do afterwards,” Julia recalled. “And he talked about wanting to build a charity from which he could help youngsters who needed guidance, who were facing real struggles in life. He cared deeply for that and it is a conversation which I never forgot.”

Julia, a successful businesswoman in her own rite, threw remarkable energy, perseverance and drive into delivering on Cyrille’s vision – and the Trust was born.

An award-winning consultant, Julia’s impressive CV expanded still further in 2024 when she was appointed Senior Independent Director of England Golf.

“It was the saddest of times but the Trust is the perfect legacy. If you knew Cyrille, you knew just how much the work would mean to him,” he says.

Terry Angus

Coventry-born Terry is another who, like Cyrille, progressed his football from semi-professional origins to enjoy lengthy full-time spells with Northampton Town and Fulham.

Since then, his career path has illustrated his commitment to helping others, first as a Probation Officer for the Prince’s Trust at Solihull College and now as a Community Equalities Executive with the Professional Footballers Association.

You cannot do it all on your own and I am grateful to all the Trustees, including those who have been able to provide assistance but have since stepped away, for their help and support. They all share one common bond – each and every one remain devoted to Cyrille and everything he stands for. That is our common bond as we drive the Trust forward.

Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust

OUR SPONSORS

The Cyrille Regis Legacy Trust is an entirely voluntary organisation relying on our own fund-raising initiatives to keep the programme running. But we are immensely grateful for the support we receive from our partners from the business world who make an invaluable contribution to our continued delivery.

They provide enormous support in the Trust’s modern-day media activities which of course are so vital to our spreading the word about our work. We must pay special thanks to his former employers at the brand-leading sports management company ICM Stellar where Cyrille was given the specialist task of advising and guiding so many of their young clients. We would also offer our huge appreciation and gratitude to Liquid, whose PR, social, digital and design consultancy has spread from its Birmingham base to offices around the world.
