my community spirit
My Community Spirit extended during November (2004) to community functions that I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of and have found very interesting. There is such a diverse range of talent that comes to light when we take time out to respond to a few of the many invitations we receive.
By attending the activities and being involved in what different community groups are doing across the country, I can appreciate the amount of effort that is required to co-ordinate these functions. In attending as many community events as I can, I also see the benefit for groups and individuals just by observing people gathered in positive environments. Providing them with opportunities to perform and show their talent is definitely worthwhile, otherwise communities only become news worthy if there is a riot or someone is murdered.
It's such a shame that more people don't get enough good positive press coverage, 'Good News' in better words. So, this is my chance to cast a light on what's going on in our communities and give some insight into the hard work and commitment shown by many individuals who do make a big difference in peoples lives.
